1 killed in Shooting Incident

RAMON MAGSAYSAY, Zamboanga del Sur (Dec. 5, 2018) – One person was killed in a shooting incident transpired at Purok 4, Barangay Bobongan, Ramon Magsaysay, Zamboanga Del Sur at about 11:50 AM of December 4, 2018.

The victim was identified as Romeo Tumapon Mainar Sr., 54 years old, married, Sanguniang Bayan Member and a resident of Purok 3 Brgy. Lantawan, Sominot Zamboanga Del Sur was shot to death by motorcycle riding suspects.

Initial Investigation conducted disclosed that the victim was traversing the road from Sominot, Zamboanga del Sur on board his single motorcycle Honda XRM towards the direction to Pagadian City, Zamboanga Del Sur.

The said motorcycle riding suspects followed him and upon arrival at Purok 4, Brgy. Bobongan, Ramon Magsaysay, they fired several times at the victim which causes the latter to crash on the grassy side portion of the road afterwards the gunmen alighted from their single motorcycle and continued firing at the victim.

After the commission of the crime suspects immediately fled to the direction of Molave, Zamboanga Del Sur.

Personnel of Ramon Magsaysay MPS conducted hot pursuit operation for the possible apprehension of the suspects, while the victim was immediately brought to Zamboanga del Sur Medical Center Pagadian City for medical treatment but later was declared Dead on Arrival (DOA) by the attending physician.

Wanted Man Captured in Ramon Magsaysay, Zamboanga Del Sur

RAMON MAGSAYSAY, Zamboanga del Sur (Dec. 1, 2018) – The PNP personnel of Mahayag MPS, and Ramon Magsaysay MPS, Zamboanga Del Sur PPO conducted joint police operation on wanted person (Service of Arrest Warrant) at about 01:00 PM of November 29, 2018 at Purok 2, Brgy. Kauswagan, Ramon Magsaysay, Zamboanga del Sur.

The operation was resulted to the arrest of the suspect identified as Samuel Oral y’ Dumam ag, 48 years old, married and a resident of Purok 2, Brgy. Kauswagan, Ramon Magsaysay, Zamboanga Del Sur.

The accused was arrested by virtue of Warrant of Arrest for the crime of Acts Of Lasciviousness docketed under Criminal Case No. 5164-M issued on November 19, 2018 by Honorable Judge Crislyn C. Pangindian, Presiding Judge of 9th Judicial Region, 11th MCTC Mahayag-Dumingag & Josefina; Mahayag, Zamboanga del Sur with a bail bond recommended of thirty-six thousand pesos (Php36, 000.00) for his temporary liberty.

The arrested person is now under the custody of Mahayag MPS for proper disposition.

1 person was killed in Shooting and Robbery with Homicide

R. MAGSAYSAY, Zamboanga del Sur (Nov. 16, 2018) – One person was killed in Shooting incident transpired Purok 2, Barangay Esperanza, Ramon Magsaysay, Zamboanga Del Sur at about 12:20 PM of November 15, 2018.

The victim was identified as Mr. Martiniano Magno y Villasincio, 59 years old, married, driver and a resident of Barangay Diwan Mahayag, Zamboanga del Sur.

Initial investigation conducted disclosed that the victim is an official driver (For hire) by the lending company of Life Bank Foundation Incorporated located at Culo, Molave, Zamboanga Del Sur accompanied by his agent collector/account officer Ms. Maria Theresa Galorio y Villaber, 38 years old, single, and a resident of Bless Culo, Molave.

Investigation further revealed that the victim and Ms. Maria Theresa were collecting money loan as a payment in every member of their lending from municipality of Sominot and Ramon Magsaysay, Zamboanga Del Sur that upon reaching the said place of incident the two suspects riding an XRM single motorcycle accosted them while entering at a curve lane remote area.

There and then the suspect shout, declared hold-up and instantly shot the driver on his back which resulted his untimely death after which suspect turned towards the passenger while pointing the cal.45 pistol asking for money which the suspect successfully carted away the bag containing money amounted to Forty Nine Thousand Seven Hundred Seventy Five (Php49,775.00).

The unidentified suspects immediately fled away towards Barangay Poblacion, Ramon Magsaysay, Zamboanga Del Sur direction after the incident, while PNP personnel of Ramon Magsaysay MPS conducted manhunt operation to possibly locate and arrest the fleeing suspects.

Rape Suspect Arrested

R. MAGSAYSAY, Zamboanga del Sur(Nov. 10, 2018) - PNP personnel of Ramon Magsaysay MPS and Kapatagan MPS, Lanao Del Norte conducted joint police operation on wanted person (Service of Arrest Warrant) at about 4:30 PM of November 09, 2018 at Purok 2, Brgy. Poblacion, Ramon Magsaysay Zamboanga Del Sur.

The operation was resulted to the arrest of the suspect identified as Reymond Briones, 30 years old, male, single, jobless and a resident of Purok 7, Barangay Lapinig, Kapatagan, Lanao Del Norte.

The accused was arrested by virtue of Warrant of Arrest for the crime of two counts of Rape in relation to R.A. 7610, docketed in Criminal Case Nos. 21-4088 and 21-4089 issued on November 9, 2018 by Presiding Judge of RTC, 12th Judicial Region, Branch 21, Kapatagan, Lanao Del Norte with no bail bond recommended. The accused is now in the custody of Kapatagan MPS for proper disposition.

Progress Report on Motor Vehicular Traffic Accident at

RAMON MAGSAYSAY, Zamboanga Del Sur (Oct. 21, 2018) - In connection with the motor vehicle traffic accident that transpired last October 20, 2018 at around 2:15pm along the semi-blind curved down grade portion of the National Highway, Purok P1, Brgy. Esperanza, Ramon Magsaysay, Zamboanga Del Sur.

Wherein the driver of Isuzu Prime Mover Truck w/ Plate # 101606 identified as Fructoso Ponce Bation accidentally bumped all other motor vehicles involved in the said accident.

Please be informed that a case for Reckless Imprudence Resulting in Multiple Homicide with Serious Physical Injuries and Damage to Properties was filed by the Ramon Magsaysay MPS before the Provincial Prosecution Office, Pagadian City duly received at about 8:00am of October 21, 2018 docketed under IX-09-INQ-18J-00165.

Further, a thorough investigation conducted by Ramon MaM MPS revealed that there was another male person died on arrival at Blancia Hospital Molave, Zamboanga Del Sur in person of Julio C Andales, 54 years old, male, married, truck man of a Kia Bongo bearing Plate # ADO 4221 and a resident of Purok Caimito, Tuburan Dist.,  Pagadian City.

1 person killed in Shooting Incident

RAMON MAGSAYSAY, Zamboanga Del Sur (Oct. 22, 2018) – One person was killed in Shooting incident transpired at Purok 4, Brgy Paradise, Ramon Magsaysay, Zamboanga Del Sur at about 5:50pm of October 21, 2018.

Immediately, PNP personnel of Ramon Magsaysay MPS proceeded to the area and conducted initial investigation wherein the victim was identified as Willy Carbajasa Legutom, of legal age, married and resident of Brgy Baculot, Tambulig. He sustained one Gunshot wounds on his head that resulted to his death.

The suspect shoots the victim with the use of Cal .45 based on the recovered one empty shell for Cal .45 at the crime scene.

The victim’s back rider identified as Gardo Sabanal, of legal age, resident of Brgy Balugo, Tambulig sustained contusions on the different parts of his body.

Further investigation revealed that the victim and his back rider was riding a single MC Honda Wave 100 travelling from Brgy Bliss, Ramon Magsaysay going towards Tambulig when shot by a lone unidentified gunman riding undetermined single MC wearing a close helmet.

PNP personnel of Ramon Magsaysay MPS are still conducting police operation for possible motive of incident and identification of the perpetrator. The investigator is PO3 Richie Villamor Cuadra with CP # 0949-8250-485.

Shooting Incident

RAMON MAGSAYSAY, Zamboanga del Sur (Sept. 25, 2018) - Shooting incident transpired at Purok 2, Barangay Switch, Ramon Magsaysay, Zamboanga Del Sur at about 8:00 PM of September 23, 2018.

The victim identified as Rogelio Cañete y Mensurado, 26 years old, male, single, farmer, and a resident of Purok 1-B, Brgy. Switch, Ramon Magsaysay, Zamboanga Del Sur, one unidentified suspect shot him using caliber 45 short firearms based on empty shells recovered from the crime scene. 

Initial investigation conducted by responding PNP team of Ramon Magsaysay that a heated argument due to traffic mishaps involving the suspect and Benjor Languido y Lumosad, 24 years old, male, single and a resident of Purok 12, Barangay Poblacion, Ramon Magsaysay, Zamboanga Del Sur.

 The allegedly suspect punch Benjor Languido on the face, that’s the time Rogelio Cañete rush to the scene to help and pacify the situation, but the suspect also punch him hitting his face. There and then the suspect pulled out the undetermined caliber of short firearm and fired two gunshot on Rogelio Cañete, luckily the latter was able to run for his life but he sustained two GSW on his left and right thighs and was brought to Blancia Hospital, Molave Zamboanga del Sur for medical treatments .

The suspect immediately fled to the direction of Molave, Zamboanga del Sur. Recovered at the crime scene two empty shells of Caliber .45 and one fired slug. Investigator on-case is PO1 Rogelio S. Awa Jr. with CP No. 09098351899.

Hacking Incident

RAMON MAGSAYSAY, Zamboanga Del Sur (Sept. 4, 2018) - Hacking incident transpired at Purok 2, Barangay Malating, Ramon Magsaysay, Zamboanga Del Sur at about 9:50 PM of September 1, 2018. The victim identified as Rogelio Albarico Y Maglasang, 52 years old, married, farmer and a resident of above-mentioned barangay.

He was hacked by suspect one Jerson Maglasang y Polinar, 53 years old, male, married, farmer also and a resident of barangay Malating, Ramon Magsaysay, Zamboanga del Sur.

Initial investigation conducted by Ramon Magsaysay MPS disclosed that the victim sustained multiple hack wounds in the different parts of the body and the cadaver was discovered this morning at around 8:30 AM of September 2, 2018 inside the premises of Malating, Elementary School quadrangle.

The suspect was arrested after the incident and the weapon used (SCYTHE) measuring to twenty two inches was recovered and he is now under the custody Ramon Magsaysay MPS for investigation and proper disposition.

The cadaver was moved to the Paradise Funeral Home, located at Ramon Magsaysay, Zamboanga Del Sur waiting for autopsy examination by the Rural Health attending Physician.

The motive of the incident was personal grudged. Investigator-on-case: SPO1 Michael Bongabong Hontiveros with CP no. 09481271947.

Arrest of Escapee

RAMON MAGSAYSAY, Zamboanga del Sur (July 1, 2018) – The personnel of Ramon Magsaysay MPS and Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) rearrested one of the the escapees inmates at the mountainous area in the municipality of Ramon Magsaysay on June 30, 2018 at about 10:30am. The prisoners were reported escaped from BJMP District Jail, Ramon Magsaysay on June 28, 2018 at 6:30am.   

Prior to his arrest, when the escapee noticed the presence of the responding PNP and BJMP personnel, one of the police officer was shot by the escaped prisoners using undetermined caliber of short firearm, which prompted the said police officer to returned fire.

As a result, the escapees identified as Danilo Dumandos was arrested by the responding PNP personnel with no firearm recovered in his possession, while Nestor Dumandos was able to elude arrest and carrying a short firearm heading towards the hilly portion of Barangay Caniangan, Ramon Magsaysay, Zamboanga Del Sur.

No one was injured/hit during the incident. The arrested escapee is now temporary detained at Ramon Magsaysay MPS detention cell and will be turnedver to BJMP District Jail of of this municipality for proper disposition.

2 Inmates Escaped at Ramon Magsaysay District Jail

RAMON MAGSAYSAY, ZamboSur (June 29, 2018) – Two inmates were able to manage to escaped from detention of Ramon Magsaysay District Jail, Ramon Magsaysay, Zamboanga Del Sur on June 28, 2018 at about 6:00 AM.

The two inmates were identified namely as Danilo Dumandos Y Alimod, 45, farmer and Nestor Dumandos Y Alimod, 27, married, farmer, both residing at Brgy. Balukbahan, Bayog, Zamboanga Del Sur.

Initial investigation conducted disclosed that while the said inmates taking a bath and washing their clothes, they took the opportunity to escape. The two inmates climbed the fence of the laundry area and passing through the two-story building of Ramon Magsaysay District Jail that is under construction wherein the scaffolding besides the building were used by the two inmates to jump over the 10-feet detention wall and fled towards Brgy. Esperanza, Ramon Magsaysay, Zamboanga Del Sur.

Both escapees were charged for a crime of murder docketed under case number 16-10, 1302, RTC Branch 30 Aurora, Zamboanga Del Sur.

Ramon Magsaysay MPS is continue conducting dragnet operation for possible apprehension of the two fugitives.

4 injured in road mishap involvinh 4-vehicles

RAMON Magsaysay, ZamboSur (June 28, 2019) – Four were injured including 8-year old child in vehicular accident involving four vehicles, the Vehicle Accident transpired along the steep grade portion of the National Highway of Purok 2, Barangay Esperanza, Ramon Magsaysay, Zamboanga Del Sur On about 5:50 PM of June 26, 2018.

Investigator on case PO2 Richie V Cuadra said that the PNP team of Ramon Magsaysay MPS proceeded immediately to the reported place of incident to verify and to conduct ocular investigation.

Upon arrival thereat, the responding team found out that there were four vehicles involved in the accident:

a. MV No.1 - Isuzu Forward bearing Plate No. ACO 7511, driven by one Lambo, Alejandro Bulitic, 60 y/o, male, married, a resident of Tambulig, Zamboanga del Sur,

b. MV No.2 - Fuso Wing Van Truck bearing Plate No. 102001, driven by Gabor, Reymark Oliverio, 25 years old, male, single, a resident of Brgy. Malipayon, Pangantucan, Bukidnon,

c. MV No.3 - Tricycle (motorcycle with cab) Honda TMX Supremo bearing Plate No. 6793 OZ, driven by one Sarabia, Jovane Arcilla, 24 years old, single and a Post Office employee of Mahayag, Zamboanga del Sur. He has two passengers Estelita Bermejo Tauto-an, 53, female, married, Post Office employee of Molave and Ramon Magsaysay, both Municipalities of Zamboanga del Sur and her grandchild an 8 year old female student and

d. MV No.4 – Huwo Dump truck bearing Plate No.AAY3272, driven by one Virador, Ronel y Cornedo, 24, male, single, a resident of P1, Brgy. Gapasan, Ramon Magsaysay, Zamboanga Del Sur.

Initial investigation conducted disclosed that, while MV No.1 Isuzu Forward was traversing from Aurora, Zamboanga Del Sur bound for Tambulig, Zamboanga del Sur loaded with 100 sacks of Tiki-Tiki (pulverized rice casing) and upon reaching at the steep grade portion of the National Highway, vicinity of Purok 2, Brgy. Esperanza, Ramon Magsaysay, Zamboanga Del Sur it accidentally encountered a mechanical failure commonly called loss brake, the investigator said.

As a result, MV No.1 sideswipes the left side portion of MV No.2 Fuso Wing Van Truck that was traversing in opposite direction from Molave, ZDS destined for Zamboanga City causing damage in the left side portion of its body to include the exploded two left rear wheels, he added.

While MV No.1 is on the process, it also hit MV No.3 Tricycle (motorcycle with cab) Honda TMX Supremo that was in front (traversing in same direction) from Brgy. Poblacion, RM, ZDS destined for Molave, Zamboanga Del Sur causing scratches in the different areas of the aforementioned tricycle that almost fell on the deep drainage, he said.

Then lastly, it hits MV No.4 Huwo Dump truck that was also traversing in opposite direction causing severe damage in its front portion, he said. 

Further, the driver of MV No.1 sustained a right leg fracture while the driver of MV No.3 together with its passengers sustained head injuries, PO2 Cuadra also said.

All were immediately brought to Blancia Hospital, Molave, Zamboanga del Sur for medical treatment.

Hacking Incident in Ramon Magsaysay

On May 17, 2018 at about 10:00 PM, a hacking incident transpired at Purok 6, Sitio Lawis, Esperanza, Ramon Magsaysay, Zamboanga Del Sur.

The victims were identified as Roland Tagaytay, 32 years old, married, farmer and Arnel Tagaytay, single, 24 years old, farmer and both were residents of the above mentioned place.

They were stabbed by suspect identified as Magdalino Lacia, married, 42 years old, farmer and also a resident of said place.

Initial investigation conducted disclosed that victim was watching a Television at the house of the suspect, when the victim decided to go home, the suspect got mad and immediately boxed the victim and was hit on the left side of his face.

The victim immediately run towards his house and informed his nephew identified as Arnel about the incident.

In that instant, victim Arnel Tagaytay went to the house and confronted the suspect.

At course of their confrontation a heated arguments ensued between them and without any apparent reason, suspect hacked Arnel Tagaytay on his head using a bladed weapon and fled towards the back portion of his house and fled to unknown direction.

Both victims were brought to Blancia Hospital, Molave, Zamboanga Del Sur for immediate medical treatment.

Investigator on case is now conducting thorough investigation while appropriate case is now being prepared for filing in court.

Shooting Incident in Ramon Magsaysay

On May 3, 2018 at about 5:00 PM, Shooting incident transpired at the vicinity of Purok 4, Brgy. Paradise, Ramon Magsaysay, Zamboanga del Sur.

The victim Michael Maglasang Ortiz, 58 years old, male, married, farmer, and a residence of Purok 4, Brgy. Paradise, Ramon Magsaysay, Zamboanga Del Sur. Unidentified persons on board on a XRM 125 color red combination shot him.

As a result, the victim sustained two (2) GSW at his head resulted to his sudden death. Recovered at the crime scene three (3) empty shells of Caliber .45 pistols.

Investigation conducted disclosed that while the victim was washing their dirty garments at the side of their house, suspect entered inside their house and shot the victim several times and immediately fled to the direction of Molave, Zamboanga del Sur.

PNP personnel of Ramon Magsaysay MPS conducted follow up investigation to determine the motive and possible arrest of the suspect. Investigator is PO1 Rogelio S. Awa Jr. with cp No. 09098351899.

Vehicular Traffic Accident in Ramon Magsaysay

RAMON MAGSAYSAY, Zamboanga del Sur (April 28, 2018) – A Vehicular Traffic Accident transpired along the National Highway, vicinity of Purok 3, Sitio Alang-Alang, Brgy. Poblacion (near IBJ Terminal) in this municipality on April 26, 2018 at about 7:30pm.

Case Investigator PO2 Richie Villamor Cuadra disclosed that the accident involving two motor vehicles. Motor vehicle No. 1. Bongo Mazda bearing Plate No. ADO 6179, driven by Teves, Marcelino Pielago, 33 years old, male, married, of Pagadian City and Motor vehicle No. 2. Single motorcycle Moto posh color black without Plate Number, driven by Jonathan Apari y Ortega, 26 years old, male, married security guard.

In the initial investigation disclosed that while Bongo Mazda was traversing from Ozamis City bound for Pagadian City without headlight (however the driver used a flashlight) and upon reaching at the vicinity of Purok 3, Sitio Alang-alang, Brgy. Poblacion, Ramon Magsaysay, of this province it accidentally encountered single Motorcycle.

The single Motorcycle was traversing in opposite direction going to Molave, Zambo. Sur. As a result thereof, Bongo Mazda incurred damage particularly in the left door while Single Motorcycle was totally wrecked.

Both drivers sustained injuries that were brought to Blancia Hospital, Molave of this province for immediate medical treatment.

Both vehicles were brought to Ramon Magsaysay MPS for safekeeping. (By Jong Cadion)
